On September 30th, at the invitation ofGZDI, Mr. Wu Shuoxian, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and professorof South China University of Technology (SCUT), gave a lecture on Implementing GreenBuildings for Development of Livable Cities. Present at the lecture were GZDI’sPresident Zhou Helong, Vice President Zhou Zejun, Vice President and Chief ArchitectMa Zhencong and the other chief engineers, principals and architects.
Starting from the definition of green building, Mr. Wu introduced the six indicators and four categories of green building evaluation system, and gave details of the green building implementation from seven key aspects through comparison of local and international data and practical cases. While pointing out the status quo of green building in China and existing challenges, Mr. Wu also explained why green building implementation is a critical measure for energy conservation and emission reduction, and elaborated on how scientific and reasonable city planning could contribute to the energy conservation, emission reduction and the development of livable cities.
The lecture, with large amounts of detail data and practical cases quoted, was lively presented. With deep insights explained in a concise and lucid manner, it stimulated the academic atmosphere in GZDI and triggered in-depth thinking on green building design among the designers and engineers, leaving positive impact on GZDI’s green building design and technological innovation.
